Well, my mom celebrated her 71st birthday....She seems to be getting younger with age.... I am so grateful that she is so strong and healthy. I just hope that I can be as fortunate when I am her age. We sent her flowers which she loved. And of course she had her picture taken with Chloe. It was so funny, when they delivered the flowers Chloe was at the door and walked out onto the step to greet the delivery person. I about freaked out because I thought she was going to take off running. I tried to be calm because I was in no way dressed to go running after her. But instead she jumped up and down all excited. I think she thought the flowers were for her. So I guess I will have to send her some for her birthday too..... She is too much.....
Well, we will be celebrating my mom's b-day this Saturday after we get back from Sunnyvalle. We are going to go visit my uncle before he starts chemo on Monday. We are just going to have dinner and cake at my sister's house. Really quiet compared to her 70th b-day last year...
Well, my birthday is not until next month, but I was so pleasantly surprised with a delivery for me. Dawn S., my best friend in the whole wide world surprised me with an early birthday package. It was filled with yarn, needles, a book on knitting socks, a couple of dishcloths that she made. One with a flamingo and another with a martini glass in the pattern...she just knows me so well, stitch markers and gauge.....it was so much fun....I was expecting a little care package that she said she was sending, you know just some needles and patterns, but boy did she surprise me......
Also, I stopped at one of the yarn shops that I just found out about, Janna's Needle Art, and got some yarn from there. I just fell in love with everything and had to get out quick before I got in trouble. I want to make a list of what I need and then go in. They were so nice in there. They offer classes on Saturdays too...yea!!!! The other shop in town, Ancient Pathways, does too but mostly on Tuesdays and Thursdays which are nights that I have school. I just loved the colors of these yarns. The thin shiny one which is a mohair blend is for a scarf that the owner had made and was on display. It is really easy and basically just for looks. It will not keep you warm at all. The other yarn is by Cascade, Jewel Hand Dyed 100% wool. I have no idea what to make with that. Any ideas?????? Let me know.
As for my socks, I am coming along. I am working on the heel part. I was almost done with that part but realized that I was slipping the stitches wrong so re-did it. It looked okay but I didn't feel comfortable knowing that is was wrong.....
Well, that is about it for now. Hope you enjoy the pics........TTYL....Julie

Happy Happy Birthday to your Mom!!!! Give her a big hug for me K?
Don't underestimate the Mohair, some can be a lot warmer than you think. I can't wear it or easily knit with it, it prickles my skin too much. Some wools do that to me too! :(
Check out Ravelry for the yarns you need ideas about! It's fun to see what others have done with them! :) It depends on how much yardage you have but accessories are very popular all the time!
Can't wait to see your sock progress! Hurry up! LOL! PS> Your blog is looking AWESOME! :):)
